Ruthie’s Crafts and Sports Camp is held at Tennis Rhode Island in East Providence. It will run all summer in 2025, beginning June 16th. Our camp features an arts and crafts morning, organized sports and games and indoor tennis by instructors in the afternoon! Camp is for kids ages 4.6-11 years old. We run all summer, Monday to Friday, rain or shine!

How is the day structured? We begin each day indoors with an art lesson and craft along our weekly theme. We have snack, then head outside for classic camp games and activities, structured sports including basketball, soccer, pickleball, kickball and more! We will stay cool with water balloon games and lots of shady spots under the trees. We have lunch, then enjoy indoor tennis instruction and light fitness training from our counselors. We have spare tennis rackets available but kids are welcome to bring their own rackets.
Here is a list of weekly arts/crafts themes from the summer of 2025:
Week of June 16th – Summer Party Week Kids will celebrate their Summer break with lots of fun, summer-themed arts and crafts.
Week of June 23 – Patterns and Designs Week (no camp July 4th or 5th) Kids will explore mandalas and patterns in nature in our art lessons this week.
Week of June 30th (no camp Friday, July 4) – USA Week Kids will enjoy crafts along an “Americana” and Fourth of July theme.
Week of July 7 – Amazing Insects Week. Kids will learn about and enjoy five fascinating insects this week, art lessons will be along this theme.
Week of July 14 -Beach and Shells Week Kids will learn about the beach habitat and the animals that inhabit it. Lots of shell and beach-related arts/crafts this week.
Week of July 21 – Ocean Animals Week Kids will enjoy learning about sharks, whales and fish and enjoy related crafts along this theme.
Week of July 28-August 1st– No Camp This Week. Camp is closed this week due to renovations to Tennis Rhode Island.
Week of August 4 – African Animals Week Kids will learn about the savannah habitat and enjoy crafts related to this theme.
Week of August 11 – Reptiles and Amphibians Week Our arts/crafts lessons will be about turtles and lizards and axolotls.
Week of August 18 Arctic Animals Week Kids will explore the Arctic habitat and enjoy arts/crafts along this theme.
Week of August 25th – Surprise Theme Week! Regular attending campers get to call the shots on this week’s theme! To be announced the week before! Campers will enjoy related crafts to this theme along with lots of indoor play and outdoor sporty fun!
Camp runs rain or shine, as we have a nice indoor classroom space to use, if needed.
We are CPR/First Aid certified and have junior counselors in attendance to make sure everyone has a safe and super-fun time!
Booking: Bookings are now open! Deposit of half your weekly rate ($150) is due upon booking. This will go toward your camp week tuition. Cash, check, Venmo or Zelle are accepted forms of payment.
